Dear Friends of Genre’s Kids
Thank you so much for your support of Genre’s Kids with Cancer Fund! Time and financial constraints led us to step out of the official charity program. You are still supporting the same charity, doing the same good work! Things are just a little different than in years past. Jodi Fowler will not be directing the Genre’s Kids Marathon team this year. We were so sad to see her step away from this position, but so very thankful for all the hard work she put in to building this team.
Here is the important information for those who would still like to run on Team Genre.
- You will need to sign up for you race and pay your entry fee on the Marathon site.
- After you are registered, please go to https://www.crowdrise.com/genreskidspittsburgh2016 and sign up to fundraise for our team!
If you choose to fundraise for our team, we will be happy to provide the following incentives:
Raise $100 - Receive a $10 Itunes card
Raise $250 - Receive a $25 gift card of your choice (many to choose from)
Raise $400 - Receive a $50 gift card of your choice (many to choose from)
Raise $600 - Receive a $100 gift card of your choice (many to choose from)
- All runners will get a cool team shirt!
- There will be a grand prize for the top fundraiser!
Because we will not be listed on the Marathon registration page, you can not register for your race through Genre’s Kids. You will need to purchase your race entry and then register to fundraise on this page.
Just click “Fundraise for this Campaign.” Next, you either log in to CrowdRise or create a CrowdRise account. You complete the information and then share your fundraising page with everyone!!
We would love for you to support Genre’s Kids this year. We have recently begun to assist with funeral expenses in very special and unique cases. With this added expense, your fundraising is even more important to these kids.
Genre’s Kids has grown more than my family could ever have imagined. This tiny charity that started in Genre’s hospital room and then bloomed in my kitchen has helped hundreds of families at Children’s Hospital each year since 2009.
I made the personal commitment that Genre’s Kids with Cancer Fund would not be run by employees. It is my belief that God has allowed us to do His work through Genre’s Kids, and my heart tells me that this charity should remain all volunteer.
With that being said, I am unable to take on the large responsibility that goes along with directing the Pittsburgh Marathon. I personally do the book keeping, all correspondence, direct the golf outing, work closely with the social workers, direct the Christmas Family program, and interact with all of the families we help. Our cancer families want to talk with me because I am one of them. I am a cancer mom. I am humbled to be able to listen to their stories and I feel that this is where I can best serve Genre’s Kids. This is where my time needs to be primarily focused.
I hope you understand this decision.
Thank you again for loving Genre’s Kids and the mission that we are so honored to fulfill.
Have a wonderful day!
