George Wan La Salle Academy Memorial Fund
Organized by: Allen Wan
My brother George Wan passed away suddenly last year after nearly two decades as a decorated police officer and detective in New York City. He was a hero during 9/11, helping to guide people to safety at great peril. The funds donated in George's honor will be used for a recurring annual merit scholarship targeted at underpriviledged minority students at his alma mater La Salle Academy who plan to seek careers in public service. La Salle, founded in 1848, has survived a dramatic decline in parochial education by successfully recruiting minority students. The high school has an outstanding track record of sending graduates, many of whom are first generation, to college. I am hoping this scholarship will keep George's legacy and generosity of spirit alive.
