Gertrude's Community Garden
Organized by: John Sourbeer
We intend to create an edible community garden at 5210 Gertrude Street in Hazelwood. Our goal is to create a garden for neighborhood residents. There also will be an emphasis on creating an environment for children to learn through educational signage throughout the garden and beds designated specifically for children to experiment with their own gardening.
Our largest financial needs are for liability insurance that is required by the City of Pittsburgh ($500-$750/yr), soil for raised beds ($700), and materials to create the raised beds ($120). Additional funds could be used to create educational signs, fences, or a composting box.
