Brooke's Service Trip to Nepal
Organized by: Brooke Sims
Hello, My name is Brooke. I am currently a Counseling and Art Therapy graduate student at Ursuline College. In May of 2016 I will be traveling to South Asia to the country of Nepal for a volunteer service trip working with the children and families that were recently affected by the April 2015 earthquakes where over 8,000 were killed and thousands more injured. Nepal is a country located inbetween China and India in South Asia. Along side fellow students and professors, we will be providing service through art therapy and counseling to children and their famlies. We will be helping at “Antardristi Nepal” an organization that has three residential centers in Kathmandu where children live who have been victims of trauma. As well as at “PA Nepal,” a grassroots organization that seeks to provide basic needs and human rights to prisoners and their children.
I am starting this fundraising in hopes to get help in raising enough funds to be able to make this trip a reality for me. Service has always been a love and a responsibility to me. I have also started a shop where you can purchase prints of my art work and all proceedes will go to funding this trip as well. For more information on my art sales visit
When I found out about this opportunity I was immediately inspired and motivated to help. My fundraising goal is $4000. The cost of the trip will be around $3500 which includes airfare, accommodations, excursions, and insurance. Plus extra money needed while I will be there for food, and other traveling expenses. I would love nothing more then your help to make this dream of watching all that counseling and art therapy can do come alive abroad. Thank you!!!
