On Thursday, June 2nd, Lindsay was biking with a friend for one block on Central NE in Minneapolis. A black SUV came tearing up from behind, and though both cyclists were well lit, the vehicle plowed into Lindsay from behind, dragged her for a block, and then peeled off into the night. The accident was horrifying to see, but luckily Lindsay was okay. She was checked out by the paramedics at the scene and chose not to go to the hospital, but she's covered from head to toe in bruises and road rash. Her bike is mangled. Her spirits are low. She'll be visiting urgent care on Friday morning to be checked out.
Last night she told me, "How can I ever feel safe biking again?" Well, that's our cue. Let's show her that the vast majority of people out there are incredibly supportive. Let's try to make it up to her a little. I think it's bullshit that she should have to pay a penny for what this asshole did to her. Let's make sure she has enough spare cash to cover, firstly, any and all doctor's visits and medications. After that, we'll fix up or replace her bike and replace her helmet. If there's anything left the rest will be up to her.
