WHEELS TO AFRICA wrote -
We are a small all volunteer non-profit with the goal of empowering communities throughout Africa by supplying bicycles. Bikes have the ability to changes lives, allowing kids an education, remote villagers hospital access, and families a means of feeding their children. Wheels to Africa collects used bikes around the Washington D.C. area and then ships them to countries throughout Africa, this year to Tanzania.
Unfortunately, getting the bikes off the docks in Dar is a struggle. Corruption is rampant and it is hard to trust officials. We have had trouble getting a reasonable price for clearing customs and today it was multiplied to 5 times what we had expected!
We are asking WTA supporters and volunteers to come together and help us raise the money to get the bikes cleared as soon as possible. We know that donating money can be a daunting task, but we also know how much our volunteers care about getting the bikes through. If everyone who likes us on Facebook could donate just $5 we would have $2500, enough to get the bikes off the docks, ship them wherever they need to go in Tanzania, and make any repairs necessary.
