Getting home to Family...
Organized by: Colleen Brennan
It was a year long, up hill battle that I was not likely to win but I did, my daughter and I have been legally granted permission to move back to our roots in New England, I will finally be able raise my daughter in the country with a backyard filled with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We moved to Colorado with my ex husband 6 years ago but after a few years here the marriage crumbled and I have been left the past 3 years raising my daughter in a city apartment with no family even remotely close. I have been going to school online to get my daughter and I in a better situation and my grades are good but this has put an additional financial strain on us. I work as much as I can but with no family to help I must tailor these work hours around the needs of my daughter as I cannot afford the cost of childcare. My lawyer told be from the beginning that relocation cases are extremely difficult to win and that he needed to be up front about this. I have an amazing family in New Hampshire and it was worth it to me to spend every penny I could to win the right to raise my daughter with that family. My ex husband dragged out the legal process as much as possible causing me and my family to pay more in legal fees than we ever expected. Yet, against all odds we have permission to move but I now find myself scrapping to find the funds to physically get there. I want to bring my daughter home and get back on my feet.
