My goal is to raise $2,000.00 for the American Red Cross. How so? With your HELP we can support all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; HELP our communities become ready and prepared for disasters; HELP everyone in our country have access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; HELP all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and HELP support the trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives. With your generous giving and support I will proudly spread your love during the Flying Pirate Half Marathon on May 4, 2014 crossing the finish line with joy.
Where does your money go? Here are some examples of what the generosity of donors like you allowed the American Red Cross to achieve in the 2012 fiscal year.
-More than 60,000 disasters were responded to.
-More than 4 million people learned first aid, water safety, and other lifesaving skills.
-More than 50,000 relief items were provided via international disaster response operation.
-More than 400,000 services were provided to military members, veterans and civilians.
-More than 53,000 people were educated in International Humanitarian Law.
-More than 7 million people received disaster assistance internationally. Nearly 1,000 families separated by war and disaster around the world were reconnected. An estimated 146 million children were vaccinated through Measles Initiative campaigns.
-More than 1 million people were briefed by local chapter through the "Get to Know us" program. Nearly 2.5 million people attended disaster education presentations.
-More than 335,000 people were reached through HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support activities. Also, nearly 9 million blood products were distributed to patients across the country.
