Friends and Family, please read this email. It will be worth your time!
I am honored to be part of the Golf Fights Cancer Team running in my 4th consecutive Boston Marathon. As most of you know, I have been honored to work with GFC, previously co-hosting two RI Good Guy Invitational golf tournaments. In 2012 we held a great event at RI Country Club honoring my close friend, Dr. Rick Browning, who was battling pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately less than 2 months later Rick lost his courageous battle but through the great work of GFC, the generosity of many Good Guys (and Gals) and Rick's many friends and family we were able (at Rick's direction) to donate much needed ultrasound equipment to the pediatric oncology unit at RI Hasbro Children's Hospital. We also set up the Dr. Richard A Browning, MD Fund to enable cancer investigators and researchers to begin critical work to eradicate cancer.
I am honored that Golf Fights Cancer has supported my desire to raise money for the Richard A Browning Fund and every dollar I raise will go to that great cause further honoring the amazing life and work of Rick Browning.
Yesterday I ran my first 20 miler and it was actually warm enough not to wear Yak Trax or a face mask. I am putting in the miles during this winter that will not quit and I ask that you help me reach my goal of $20,000 in Rick's honor. I have donated the first $1000 and I appreciate your consideration.
Lastly, I crossed the finish line 9 minutes ahead of the first explosion at the Boston Marathon in 2013. I was less than 200 yards from the finish line and watched in horror as one of the greatest events in this country was forever changed. Hours later I pledged that nothing would stop me from participating this year. I cannot wait to be part of this historic event, finishing alongside many that did not get to cross the line last year and truly showing what Boston Strong is all about!
Thank you for your continued support and thank you for honoring Rick with your generosity.
