Although I won't be there to run the race, I will be there in spirit and still supporting Daraja! Thank you to all who donated! See more
Mary P is a tall strong Maasai girl. She comes from a small family by Maasai standards. Her family is a traditional nomadic herdsman. Mary P was sent to board at a public elementary school in Dol- Dol (1 hour from the Daraja Academy campus) because her parents and homestead moved with the herds based on the season and she did not have constant access to an elementary school.
Today, Mary P is loving, excitable young woman. She is the Sports Prefect—a leadership position that takes care of the sports equipment and assists the PE teacher in sports activities. She loves competition and is a fierce competitor on the football (soccer) field. Mary P is one of the tallest students at Daraja Academy. She has a quick smile. When an administrator says hello to her, Mary P responds with a boisterous, “Hi!” in return. She works well with her study group, and although is a little shy in front of a group, she is a great presenter.
