Our Program provide safe and affordable housing is to help domestic violence survivors to become self-sufficiency and obtain new skills which will help them in career advancement. Our program will educate these individuals in home ownership, savings, financial counseling, financial literacy and accumulating assets. This is our top priority, because we are bridging the gap between eliminating domestic violence and self-sufficiency through financial empowerment services which will lead to home ownership, recognizing self worth and self- esteem, financial stability and a better career.
The Gift Of A Helping Hand Charitable Trust Transitional housing program will provide housing assistance to domestic violence survivor. Our program provides housings for women, who are domestic violence survivors. The program will make available referrals to support groups, financial training, job training and educational programs that will help these individuals to become self-sufficiency.
In addition, shelter and emotional support will also be provided for girls who are e children of women who are victims of domestic violence in southeastern Michigan.
The issues our program address is domestic violence against women and children. Another issue our program addresses is the increase of homelessness for women and children. Our program is addressing these two issues and will amplify our program to make available counseling, job training, educational training, support groups, financial budgeting classes and day care centers that will help us in helping these individuals through the transitional stage in their life of becoming self-sufficiency and breaking the barrier of domestic abuse.
The Gift Of A Helping Hand Transitional Housing is collaborating with other agencies that will help us in helping domestic violence survivors toward self-sufficiency. We are making available other resources such as referrals for housing, agencies that are available to provide down payments, mortgage payments and utilities assistance for our clients that are in the transitional stage of leaving our emergency shelter in order to attain permanent housing.
All of our clients will provide a progress report on their progress in our transitional housing and the stages they are in to obtain self-sufficiency. We are partnered with an agency that is available for counseling, transportation, legal assistance and pro bono lawyer that will help the clients through divorce proceedings, custody, child support and other legal matters.
Our goal is to help eliminate domestic violence and we will educate our communities in getting involved about speaking out against domestic violence and learning the warning signs of domestic violence, while getting our communities involved in volunteering at domestic violence shelter and help to mentor some of the women residing in domestic violence shelter.
