BENEFITING: Shriners Hospitals for Children
Pleasant Grove Elementary School's students decided to make sure that kids who are patients at Shriner's Hospital for Children did not miss out on the excitement of receiving Valentine's and gifts just because they aren't able to be in school while they're receiving treatments. In addition to making handmade Valentines and collecting toys, they are also trying to raise funds so that the children can have a special 'Pizza Day' just like them. The event was inspired by twin 9 year old sisters who were inspired when they witnessed another girl of a similar age successfully raise a lot of funds and gifts for her favorite charity. They figured they could do it too and decided to encourage 500 of their classmates to learn the joy of giving.
