Gifts For All Gods Children wrote -
The mission of Gifts For All God's Children (GFAGC) is to meet needs and share the love of Christ with at-risk children living in Southeast Michigan. We do this by encouraging cooperation between city and suburban churches and organizations, giving gifts and planning/facilitating events.
All year long Gifts For All God's Children helps churches and nonprofit ministries in Metro Detroit, Pontiac and Flint connect to neighborhood children and families. Every program, event and resource is an opportunity to engage within communities and provide a positive impact. This primarily volunteer organization has a rich history of 29 years and has grown to serve over 61,000 children in that time frame.
Programs have grown to include individualized tutoring/mentoring (Connecting Kids to Christ Center or CKC), summer Bible camps, overnight camp scholarships, family field trips, transportation to Sports camps, and Christmas and Easter Workshops (preparation and distribution of Christmas gifts and Easter baskets). Additionally, there is School Aid (organization and distribution of school uniforms, shoes and supplies), and Prayer Partners who regularly pray for the children and their families as well as for successful execution of the GFAGC mission.
Multiple events are held at Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas as well as during summer and fall.
Resources include (but are not limited to) Christmas gifts, Easter baskets, school supplies and backpacks as well as school uniforms and shoes.
Tutoring Program (CKC Center)
In 2016, GFAGC implemented their first tutoring program at East Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Detroit. The program served 18 at-risk students and focused on improving reading and math skills. Each student received a healthy snack, 1.5 hours of one-on-one tutoring twice per week from a volunteer tutor (complete with pre-tutoring testing, a personalized lesson plan and use of an individual laptop for each session). Every child made progress moving at least one level per month and some moved as many as 18 levels (which means they moved up two years in reading and vocabulary)!
Your generosity will enable growth for this program. There is currently a waiting list for participation. GFAGC would like to expand the program to serve at least 25 students in the coming year. The goal is for continuous program growth to serve the needs of at-risk children and provide them with the reading and vocabulary skills they need to succeed. This program also strives to connect children to Christ through the mentorship of tutors and faith based curriculum.
Thank you for your help to realize the dreams of at-risk children.
