Do you know someone who has Down syndrome? As you may know, with Down syndrome or any other type of developmental disability, it is important for families to have a support network with others, high expectations, and research based programs to meet their needs. That’s what we can have here in San Diego with Gigi’s Playhouse, the first Down Syndrome Achievement Center in California: Education. Therapeutic Programs. Career Development.
Three years ago my twins were born and I received the surprising news that my son has Down syndrome. I was told that I didn't need to do anything special besides love him and take care of him the way I would with his twin sister. That was wonderful advice for a newborn but as he grew older and started to show more delays in milestones he did need special help and our family needed more support. I still have high expectations that he will be able to do everything his twin sister will do, with the right help he'll get there. Gigi's Playhouse can offer over 30 different types of therapeutic programs that will help my son now and as he gets older.
Gigi’s Playhouse has been serving children and adults for over a decade with more locations being added each year. I joined the start up team for Gigi’s Playhouse San Diego in order to help our community with over 4,000 people with Down syndrome to achieve success, including my son Charlie. We can use your help to make it happen. Your generous donation will help us move forward into the next phase of bringing Gigi's Playhouse to San Diego.
