BENEFITING: Gildas Club Twin Cities Inc
ORGANIZER: Gildas Club Twin Cities Inc
EVENT: Give Twin Cities Challenge
This summer, I discovered Gilda's Club Twin Cities, and while I've only been a member for a short time, I know it will be a crucial part of staying as healthy as I can be. As many of you know, I was on leave from my teaching job last school year, and in the last few months I made the decision that another leave for 2017-18 was necessary for my health.
One of the hardest things for me is the lost of a schedule, aside from weekly treatments. Work gives me purpose; students (while often germy) keep me energized. Losing that, in many ways, is harder than the side effects from treatment. Gilda's Club gives me, and others who live with cancer (including family and friends), the chance to connect, set a schedule, and participate in a range of wellness activities. FOR FREE.
I don't often embark upon fundraising efforts. But the fact that this organization provides everything from yoga, to support groups, to improv night, to cooking lessons for caregivers -- at no cost -- is impressive. So many people with cancer are not as fortunate to have resources, so a place like Gilda's Club is invaluable.
Please consider giving.

"Cancer gave me membership in an elite club I'd rather not belong to." - Gilda Radner
At Gilda's Club Twin Cities, membership means community.
All donations up to $15,000 will be matched through the generosity of Brian and Jane Ostenso, close friends of the Ashcroft Family.
"My membership moment was waking up and realizing that Steve's cancer was not going away ... that this was our life. I felt completely lost. Gilda's Club provided the lifeboat we needed." - Anna Ashcroft
When Anna and her husband Steve received his diagnosis of stage IV colon cancer, their whole family needed a community of people who truly understood what they were going through. They found that community at Gilda's Club, where people of all ages - and all cancers - receive social and emotional support and learn how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome.
No one should face cancer alone. Please give generously today.
