BENEFITING: GILDAS CLUB NEW YORK CITY
ORGANIZER: GILDAS CLUB NEW YORK CITY
On November 5, I will be running my 8th marathon (3rd NYC). I've always run these races for self achievement but never for someone else. This year I will be running for my father, Mario Edison Rodriguez, who passed away last year from pulmonary fibrosis. Even towards the end he fought hard to keep breathing - he had a very strong heart which carried him through is last days even as his lungs were giving out. It was the hardest time of my life and recovering from such a loss seemed insurmountable.
I am proud to be running for him and raising money for Gilda's Club. This organization creates welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens and children – along with their families and friends even through the grieving process. Their innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing networking and support groups, workshops, lectures and social activities, all free of charge.
Please help me in achieving my goal of raising $2500 for Gilda's Club. Cancer has touched many of our lives and every donation counts in helping families treat, recover, and cope with this disease. Please give what you can and if your company has a matching program provide them the Employer ID: 134046652. Can't wait to crush those 26.2 miles with your support and my dad watching over me.
