Creative History

Back in college, Gil launched a one-man advertising agency from his study table, providing creative works not only to some of the top brands but also to advertising agencies.

His clients found his proposed campaigns somewhere between insane and irresistible.

Unique yet doable.

None of them even realized that he was just a sophomore Psychology student!

That small advertising company became a comics/animation company called Camp Comics that churned out groundbreaking titles like Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS, The Last of the Eye-Eaters, and Moon Dragon.

Now Gil is at the helm of his own video game company, Palmagick Entertainment.

Mobile Games

In cooperation with Singapore-based Tin Can Mobile Solutions, Gil and his team developed a unique story-driven mobile game series based on the TAEKWONDOGGS. It features five stand-alone yet interlinked mobile games:

* Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS 1: "Nemesis"

* Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS 2: "Kabukicks"

* Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS 3: "Starboy"

* Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS 4: "Xperimentals"

* Kick of the TAEKWONDOGGS 5: "Warkind"

The World's Coolest Word Game

Next, Gil created WordTrotter, probably the most unique word game in the world. It's like the classic video game Pacman, the mobile game Snake and the word game Text Twist put together.

But WordTrotter has definitely evolved and it's a word game of its own; all three versions of it--Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Editions.

The World's Coolest Word Game has a whimsical design but its gameplay is easy and engaging. It features a unique gravitational orientation that allows characters to walk upside down and sideways in the game world. Tha game offers extraordinary features like alphabet hunt, never seen in any other word game before.

But the real magic lies in its ability to build anyone's vocabulary while having so much fun.

The Play 4 Scholars Project

One innocent meeting with a 12-year old girl altered Gil’s core strategy for the video game WordTrotter…

Gil was at the office of his friend, Fr. Anton Pascual, Executive Director of Caritas Manila, the lead Catholic agency for social services and development for the Archdiocese of Manila, Philippines, when he met one of the young scholars, Rosa Amor Formanes.

Rosa’s family couldn’t afford tap water, so she had to gather water in a pail every time it rains. She seldom gets a square meal a day.

Still, Rosa was a consistent honor student and an excellent artist. “I want to be a teacher,” she said.

Poverty could not stop her from pursuing her dreams.

There are over 8,000 other scholars like Rosa being supported by Caritas Manila.

Some of them are orphans. A few are abandoned children. Others have to work odd jobs at a very young age to help their parents eke out a living.

They are brilliant kids that come from the poorest of the poor families in the Philippines and they need help.

Gil decided to let Caritas Manila use his video game for free to help raise funds for the benefit of the scholars.

He founded The Play 4 Scholars Project, an online play-to-give project that allows people to donate to Caritas Manila’s scholarship program by simply playing WordTrotter.

Please see for more details.

Adopt WordTrotter, Adopt scholars

Every year, more and more kids are being added to Caritas Manila’s scholars and funding requirements continue to increase.

So now, Gil intends to put the WordTrotter as a social game on Facebook to be able to give more to the scholarship fund.

Gil is raising money through Crowdrise to achieve his goal. He is putting WordTrotter up for adoption.

This time around, he is inviting people to join him and experience the dream, the challenges and the excitement of sending a video game out into the world of Facebook social gaming.

To make the dreams of poor scholoars like Rosa happen.
