Happy Hour at Home & Away Thursday 5/12
May 10, 2016
BENEFITING: American Red Cross
ORGANIZER: American Red Cross
EVENT: Shelter of Hope
EVENT DATE: Jun 02, 2016
During disasters or emergencies families need shelter, food, water, first aid and emotional support. They need the American Red Cross. Approximately every 24 hours the Red Cross responds to a house fire or other type of disaster right here in San Diego and Imperial Counties, providing a #ShelterOfHope to a family in crisis. In less than two minutes a house fire can engulf a home leaving a family with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.
When disasters strike, people need help. It takes the whole community to get them back on their feet and the Red Cross wants to continue to work to make that happen quickly. With generous and thoughtful support, the Red Cross is there—neighbors helping neighbors. The Red Cross depends on donations to support the community every day, and that is why I am asking you to help us in providing a Shelter Of Hope to our neighbors in crisis.
My close friend and Red Cross CEO Bill Earley will be living in a mock disaster shelter June 2-June 5, 2016, traveling throughout the county and popping up in some unexpected places. He will help share our story and remind everyone that the Red Cross is here, providing help and hope every day. I have joined the Shelter Of Hope effort to Help Open People’s Eyes (HOPE) and raise funds for those in need throughout the year. It also brings awareness to the vital services the local Red Cross provides in the community with the help of partners and supporters.

I need you to stand with me. It costs the Red Cross an average of $550 to help one family recover from a disaster —and they respond to an average of six disasters each week. My personal fundraising goal is $10,000.
Please give as much as you can to help the Red Cross to continue to be there for those in need.
