EVENT DATE Jul 24, 2016
God has given me an opportunity to chase a childhood dream, that of completing an Ironman Triathlon. That involves a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike, and finished off with a 26.2 mile run. I want to be able to give back to Him for this tremendous blessing by raising money for Fellowship of Christian Athletes! FCA is an awesome ministry that gets the gospel message of salvation to high school students. FCA establishes "huddles," a.k.a. bible studies in high schools (public and private) and even colleges. Don't be fooled by the name Fellowship of Christian "Athletes" though, because it is not for athletes, but rather they use the analogy of sports and sometimes notable sports figures to get the gospel message across. In my Ironman quest, I want to simultaneously help out FCA in my area, so I have established this page to garner support from family and friends. No donation is too small and will be appreciated! All money will be given to South Jersey FCA. You can check them out here.
I was only in high school when I did my first triathlon, and learned about the Ironman triathlon. I could not imagine doing all of that in one day a total of 140.6 miles. (I still shudder at times when I think about it.) Over the years, the time has never been right for me to sign up for one because there are so many factors to consider. It takes a lot of sacrifice to train for an Ironman, for me it is 30 weeks of training. That time is going to impact my family because it requires sacrifice on everyone's part. But the time has come, I have the amazing support of my husband and five children and it seems I able to make the commitment. I do not want to make this all about crossing the finish line and accomplishing something great for me, but rather, I want to cross the finish line and be able to accomplish something greater for God that will further His kingdom. Will you help me?
I am registered to compete in Ironman Lake Placid on July 24th.
