Help Girl2B Educate and Empower Girls in India
Help us reach our goal of raising $15,000. This will serve, as a much needed endowment for 22 girls & will carry us for 5 months. By achieving this goal, we can focus on important projects and events that will be needed in the near future.
In case you are wondering it only costs $4per day per girl. $4 provides a girl with every thing she needs in regards to education, shelter, food, clothing, medical attention, & counseling.)
How many days can you help a girl?
$4 one day
$28 one week
$120 one month
$750 six months
$1500 one year
The past 6 months have been quite a journey and if you made it to this crowdrise page, we have obviously sparked your interest!
My husband and I have worked in the fashion industry for more than 20 years now, but our second job and passion - founding and running our non-profit called Girl2B has been quite an experience.
Initially 4 girls came forward asking for help. After forming a partnership with the Hope Foundation we came up with an individualized holistic approach to educating and empowering girls. No two girls are alike and each one needs a customized plan which will best support them.
Word travels fast! 17 more girls eagerly came forward asking for a chance in life, just like the original 4! Within 5 months our four-girl family quickly turned to 22!
(The Hope Foundation Kolkata is a non-profit based in Kolkata, which was established in 1999. Hope has over 10,0000 beneficiaries in over 60 projects. Girl2B is privledged to be one of their projects).
Who are our girl's2B!?
5 girls are enrolled in university
1 girl is getting a beautician certificate
4 girls are attending grade school
7 girls are attending High School
We have 1 boy! (a brother of one of the girls)
and of course the original 4.
Who helps us in Kolkata?
Our consultant that specializes in helping multi-nationals navigate the complex NGO world of Kolkata has been a guiding light.
The director of the Hope foundation projects, who keeps us updated, and reminds us to "never give up on the girls".
There are 2 social workers that are responsible for caring for the girls and all that they need emotionally and physically.
The accountant who handles the finances.
AND US: a husband and wife team who won't stop until our mission is complete.
What have we learned in the last 6 months? There seems to be a lack confidence you can't seem to shake when you are born into poverty. THIS IS COMPOUNDED WHEN YOU ARE BORN FEMALE. It is like you are born with a tattoo on your forehead that reads "I'm poor & I'm a girl"..... and this leads to nothing good!
We feel our empowerment program is unique, individualized, and necessary, and we have a waiting list!
If you are wondering why girls? Watch the Girl effect video posted on our main page. We believe we are living the girl effect every day here at Girl2B!
Namaste & Thank You for understanding our call to action!
