BENEFITING: PHILANTHROPIC VENTURES FOUNDATION
Since our launch in 2014, the Girlboss Foundation has awarded over $75,000 in financial grants to female entrepreneurs in the worlds of design, fashion, music, and the arts, to help fund them on their way to owning their future.
In short, Nasty Gal dresses girls to confidently live the life of a Girlboss. This spirit has always been at our core but only truly emerged after the book was published. 400 girls in San Diego, 400 in New York, and a sold out Roxie Theater in San Francisco - and that's for a paperback 1.5 years after the book was initially published! These girls want to meet one another, learn, and grow. It's their dream to be and stay an entrepreneur, and to find success pursuing their craft. It's my job now to codify this into our brand, our culture, and a generation of girls. The Foundation is just the beginning.
But for now, the foundation is something that has been a labor of love with zero full or part-time employees on it and it's something that neither I, nor the business, are set up to fund quite yet. The initial $75,000 has been from proceeds from the sales of #Girlboss only.
I want to innovate the way we style our homes and how we style our wardrobes to include sustainable, ethically produced textiles, and create jobs that empower women.
