Girls Helping Girls, MSC Chapter
Organized by: Robert McDonagh
My name is Fiona McDonagh - the site organizer (Robert) is my dad. My friends Isabella Pilkington, Megan Dakai, and I came up with an idea for service at our school this year.
Did you know that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, commonly known as food stamps) doesn't cover feminine sanitary products like pads or tampons? We didn't! We were shocked! Women who don't have enough money for food may not be able to afford these basic healthcare products.
There is a group of girls from New Jersey who came up with the idea to collect money and supplies and donate those to nearby food pantries, parishes, or anywhere that will take the supplies and give them out to those who need them. These girls have a website that explains a bit about how people can get involved.
My friends and I would like to start a similar program at Mount Saint Charles Academy, our school. We were hoping people could donate money so that we can buy supplies to give to pantries and parishes. Thank you all so much!
