BENEFITING: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City
The 1,000 Dreams Fund, a national scholarship program for American girls in high school and college, is teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City (BBBS) to launch the first Challenge of its kind – Girls on the Rise.
Our goal? Over the course of four weeks, we seek to raise $10,000 to help fund college visits for FIVE of BBBS' top college-bound young women. We'd love to have your help in reaching our goal at whatever amount you choose to donate! No matter what we end up raising together, the total amount will be evenly divided among the five young women.
Why does this matter
College visits are an important step in the college search process. The chance to get a sense of the campus culture ensures that students end up at a place where they will thrive rather than wanting to drop out or transfer. However, at an average cost of $1,000-3,000 to visit schools, college visits are cost prohibitive for many students.
Help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 so we can help each of these five "Girls on the Rise" get the right start on their college journeys towards, ultimately, their dreams!
