Girls on the Run is an after school program for girls 8-13 years old that integrates running into an interactive curriculum designed to inspire and teach life skills. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. Important social, psychological, and physical skills and abilities are developed and reinforced throughout the program. Certified coaches not only help train their teams, but serve as mentors and important role models in each girl's life, with connections often lasting long after the season is complete. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5k running event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible, and teaching girls that they can.
The members of this team, all students of Boston University, have the same vision for the world as Girls on the Run - one in which every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We could not imagine a better event than Tough Mudder to showcase all that Girls on the Run stands for. All donations will go directly to our local chapter - Girls on the Run Boston. We greatly appreciate any donation you are willing to make and thank you for your support of the young women of the Greater Boston Area!
