I am so excited to be a member of the Girls on the Run NYC team for the 2016 Half Marathon. This will be my first half, and I am delighted that I will be running and raising money for a such a fantastic organization. In my experience, running is not just a way to exercise and improve your physical fitness, but this is an activity which can't help but boost your self-esteem and confidence, two qualities so important in girls and young women.
It would mean so much to me if you could make a donation, no matter what size and help me spread the joy and strength that feet on the pavement can bring!
GIRLS ON THE RUN NYC:
Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-20 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons and conversation-based running games. The 24-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful a contribution to community and society.
