I could not be more excited to run my fifth half marathon this March! This one is especially important to me, because I'll be doing it to raise money for an organization I'm so passionate about: Girls on the Run NYC. You can read about the mission and program of GOTR below!
I support Girls on the Run NYC because I know from experience how much running can change and shape a life. It's not an exaggeration to say it changed mine. Running has taught me about self-care and self respect. It is free therapy. More importantly, it has shown me exactly how physically and mentally strong I am. My only regret is that I didn't start earlier! Please consider making a donation to support a program that empowers girls and teaches them these ultra-valuable lessons.
A bit about GIRLS ON THE RUN NYC:
Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-20 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons and conversation-based running games. The 24-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful a contribution to community and society.
