I am going to be participating in the half marathon in Pittsburgh, PA on Sunday, May 5th! As an extra kick for me to do my best in the event, I'm fundraising for the Girls on the Run organization. Girls on the Run is a learning organization for girls 8-13 years old. Their mission is to “inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.” The organization works to combine running events with a healthy lifestyle through a collaboration of the girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and their community. The programs GOTR offer introduce self-esteem and strong values to the girls through health education, mentoring relationships, life skills development, and physical training.
I recently became interested in GOTR because Alpha Sigma Alpha has just acquired them as a new Philanthropy. Since ASA was such a huge part of my life for 4 years, I like to stay updated with who they are still working with and do what I can to help.
As I previously stated, I'd like to raise $500 for the organization so any amount of donation will be very much appreciated!
"We believe that every girl
can embrace who she is,
can define who she wants to be,
can rise to any challenge,
can change the world.

If anyone is feeling extra generous today, my cousin is also running the half and raising money for Children's Hospital! http://www.crowdrise.com/ChildrensofPittsburgh2013/fundraiser/chrisbaker1/1/return/success/success
