Whether I was traveling to dance competitions (with my favorite dance mom), playing tennis with my Dad, kicking a soccer ball with my brother or running a few miles after a stressful day of studying--exercise has always been a positive aspect of my life. This past May, I graduated from Miami University with a degree in zoology and molecular biology. Currently, I am working in a rheumatology research lab at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh with hopes to go to medical school to become a pediatrician.
Earlier this summer, I decided that running is a passion of mine that I would like to share with others. Although this is only my first season coaching Girls on the Run, I have already been able to see first hand how this wonderful organization positively impacts the lives of the girls involved. When I set out to coach Girls on the Run just a few weeks ago, I was trying my best to be a coach, mentor and friend. Little did I know that the 20 girls on my team would become my coaches, my mentors and my friends. I am lucky to have this experience and look forward to continuing to work with these girls and watch as they fulfill their potential.

Here is some more info about Girls on the Run...
Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. The 12-week program for 3rd-8th grade girls combines training for a 5K event along with lessons on makig healthy choices. Each lesson of the curriculum uses warm-ups and workouts that encourage emotional, mental, social, and physical well being. At the end of the 12 week season, all of our local Girls on the Run teams come together for a culminating 5K event and celebration.
Girls on the Run SoleMates is the charity runner program of Girls on the Run, and locally benefits Girls on the Run of Magee-Womens Hospital. Here in western Pennsylvania, over 1,000 girls a year participate in Girls on the Run, and nearly 60% of girls request partial to full program scholarships. We are dedicated to educating and preparing all girls for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living, and to this day have not turned any girl away who is in need of financial assistance to participate.
