Running has had such a profoundly positive impact on my life. I love being able to share my passion with the girls as a Girls on the Run Coach.
Last year I raised over $600 in scholarships and this year I'd like to raise at least $1000. I am fiercely committed to empowering the next generation of young women and hope that you will be inspired to give to this worthy cause.
Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. The 12-week program for 3rd-8th grade girls combines training for a 5K event along with lessons on making healthy choices. Each lesson of the curriculum uses warm-ups and workouts that encourage emotional, mental, social, and physical well being. At the end of the 12 week season, all of our local Girls on the Run teams come together for a culminating 5K event and celebration.
Girls on the Run SoleMates is the charity runner program of Girls on the Run, and locally benefits Girls on the Run of Magee-Womens Hospital. Here in western Pennsylvania, over 1,000 girls a year participate in Girls on the Run, and nearly 60% of girls request partial to full program scholarships. We are dedicated to educating and preparing all girls for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living, and to this day have not turned any girl away who is in need of financial assistance to participate.
