BENEFITING: THINK DIGNITY
EVENT DATE: May 30, 2013
We all like our "stuff", don't we? Now imagine if the only stuff you could keep was what you could carry or cart around with you....all day, every day.
Our goal is to provide a safe place where our homeless neighbors in downtown San Diego can store their precious few personal belongings so as to use public transportation, job hunt, work, attend classes, meet with health professionals, etc. For every storage bin you see, we see a person with potential and ambition, deserving of dignity and in need of a little help.
Almost 30% of our clients are women, 20% are veterans and 25% are seniors. With their belongings safely stored, they are able to begin their transition back to housing and avoid the likelihood of night-time street robbery. The Center also frees the sidewalks and parks of hundreds of piles of personal belongings.
What does it cost? Just $1 per day per storage bin.
For just $31 you can sponsor a storage bin for a month. For $365 you can sponsor it for an entire year. Multiple bin and multiple year commitments are much appreciated.
Just imagine the lasting impact your gift will have. Remember that every bin represents an individual, simply trying to maintain their dignity as they start on their often difficult journey to work their way out of homelessness.
Now please click the orange DONATE button above to make it a reality.

Comments from Downtown San Diego resident "learnb4ugive":
"This is one of the most effective, efficient projects I have seen.
You have to go there to truly understand how well it works. It
helps people keep their belongings safe and clean while
cleaning up the downtown community all for a relatively small
amount of funding. Their funding is leveraged by using
volunteers to work with the small staff. These folks waste NO
money. As a resident of East Village I commend them for their
efforts in helping our community. It would truly be a shame if
funding was not continued to allow this project to continue
helping people help themselves."
