Omar Alhaj Ibrahim wrote -Syria’s children and youth are the most tragic victims of the Syrian conflict, now in its fifth year. Up to 3 million Syrian children are not in school. In addition, hundreds of thousands of Syrian youth are university qualified, but because of the war, they have not been able to continue their education. During this Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to support Jusoor’s $100,000 campaign to educate Syria’s youth. Jusoor has become one of the most active and successful organizations in educating young Syrians since the crisis began. Our innovative programs have helped 391 university-aged students finish their degrees and 2,500 children enroll in primary education. With a $1,000 donation, you could pay the salary of one teacher in Lebanon for two months. Our teachers, who are refugees themselves, teach 40 students each. For a donation of $650, you could provide a child with the gift of basic literacy, thereby changing the life of that child forever. And for just $40 you could help one child get to school everyday for two months, thereby eliminating one of the main barriers of access to education for children in Lebanon. On behalf of these young Syrians whose lives you are changing, thank you!
