Give us back our coach
Organized by: Odell Coetzee
Two years ago, Odell Joy was woken by an intruder at quarter to four in the morning, assaulted with a monkey wrench, stabbed nine times and left for dead... but survived. A single mother, who used to contribute to society: she was a field hockey coach, a riding instructor, school conveyor, who no longer leaves her home without a cap on. She has withdrawn from society, because she cannot handle the stares and questions from people, forcing her to recount the events. The blow to her head has over since developed into a lipoma, that has doubled in size in the last year. Because of its location on her forehead, it is listed as requiring cosmetic surgery, and because it is not life threatening and considered "cosmetic" medical insurance does not cover it. We hope to raise enough funds to have this reminder removed.
