BENEFITING: United Muslim Relief
Kuching Autistic Association was founded 10 years ago by a group of parents who got together and decided to form an NGO to provide services for their children. Another school for children with Autism in Kota Kinabalu. However, these are the only two schools in East Malaysia for children diagnosed with Autism. First and foremost, we need YOUR help to to first establish funding for educational based projects (i.e. books for the school, puzzles, sensory toys, etc.).
Muslims Without Borders is working with conducting trainings for teachers, and parents to maintain the sustainability of the school and allow generations to continue it. Our goal is to provide services for both the school, as well as giving support to families with children diagnosed with learning disabilities. The way that the school is set up, since they have such a high number of students (and unfortunately they have to turn down many students because of numbers), is that children come to school either twice, or 3 times a week, for 2 hour periods. After 2 hours, new students come in, and the school day lasts from 8-5:30. For many of the children this is the only time that they are given educational services.
