Give $28 to Cycle for Survival for my 28th
Organized by: Lauren Ianuzi
I'll be celebrating my 28th birthday on November 28th of this year - which makes this my golden birthday. But instead of asking for gifts from my family or planning a celebratory dinner or drinks with friends, I've decided to donate my birthday to Cycle for Survival.
Why Cycle for Survival? My friend and co-worker, Kelly Knab, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas in September 2013 and Cycle for Survival is an amazing organization and support system for those battling rare cancers like the one Kelly has been fighting for the past year.
The thing you need to know about Cycle for Survival is that 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to pioneering research within six months of the events. Cycle for Survival has also contributed to more than 100 clinical trials and research studies, and also to major research initiatives that will change the way cancer is diagnosed and treated.
So when Cycle for Survival announced the dates for their NYC events, I knew I had to be a part of a ride. On March 7, 2015, a group of Kelly's friends, co-workers and supporters are putting on those unflattering bike shorts and waking up early on a Saturday morning to take part in Cycle for Survival support Kelly, and we're raising the dollars so desperately needed to fight rare cancers like hers.
So this year instead of celebrating my birthday with gifts I don't need, birthday drinks that will only make me feel worse the next day, or even just receiving an overpriced birthday card, I'm asking for donations to be made to my Cycle for Survival ride to support lifesaving research. Whether you can give $1 or $28, your support will help my friend Kelly and others fighting rare cancers around the world.
Thank you for your support!
