BENEFITING: TREE HOUSE HUMANE SOCIETY
Argus is a handsome gray cat who puts his paws around your neck to give a hug. He was rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control on September 6. The next day he stopped eating, and he hasn't eaten since. The doctors have tried pain medications, appetite stimulants, antibiotics, fluids, and now surgery and a feeding tube. We have done tests and xrays. So far nothing has worked, but he is a fighter and is not only hanging on, but he purrs and rolls over for brushing and petting. This boy has gotten so thin. He is congested, and so he drools constantly. Luckily the IV keeps him hydrated. He can't swallow at all, and so force feeding won't work. He screams and chokes when anyone tries to even have him swallow water. We think this will improve as the antibiotics in his IV and the food in his stomach from the tube start to give him strength. While he looks horrible right now, he has a wonderful spirit. He has charmed the hospital staff, and multiple people have already expressed interest in adopting him if he can survive. Unfortunately, his treatment is extremely expensive, even with rescue pricing. He requires more hospitalization, has had multiple xrays, and now the surgery, too. If you are able to contribute, you can help him fight this. We need to keep him where he is and to help giving him support until he can fight this on his own.
