Inspired by 5-year-old Julian Boivin of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation, continues the fight Julian started in honor of all little superheroes battling the ultimate bad guy: pediatric brain cancer.
Courage for Cures supports the most progressive partnerships and researchers dedicated to finding cures for devastating brain cancers like Julian’s brain stem glioma, also known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). DIPG, a dreaded disease that strikes children between 5-9 years of age, has no known cause or cure, a heartbreaking prognosis of less than one year, and a 5-year survival rate of less than 1%. To parents everywhere, that's simply unacceptable.
As a foundational partner with The DIPG Collaborative (DIPG.org), we work with 20 other foundations, the brightest scientific minds in the field, and a medical advisory council to leverage funds and efficiencies in support of the most promising research.
Since losing Julian in 2011, just two weeks after his 5th birthday, Courage for Cures has raised $450,000 through community walks, runs, generous contributions and special events like our annual Brave Knight Benefit on Thanksgiving Weekend.
Courage for Cures relies entirely on volunteers so that your contributions can fully support those working to unlock the mysteries of these devastating brain tumors that fall far too short in attention and funding. Together, we can turn the tide on this terrible disease!
