Inspired by one brave little boy, 5-year-old Julian Boivin of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., The Julian Boivin Courage for Cures Foundation, continues the fight Julian started in honor of all little superheroes battling the ultimate bad guy: pediatric brain cancer.
Courage for Cures is a 501(c)3 that seeks out and supports the most progressive partnerships and researchers dedicated to finding cures for devastating brain cancers like Julian’s brain stem glioma, also known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a dreaded disease that strikes children between 5-9 years of age, has no known cause or cure, a heartbreaking prognosis of less than one year, and a 5-year survival rate of less than 1%.
As a foundational partner with The DIPG Collaborative (DIPG.org), we work with 20 other foundations, the brightest minds in the field and a medical advisory council to leverage funds and efficiencies in support of the most promising research.
Since 2011, Courage for Cures has raised more than $450,000 through community walks, runs, generous contributions and special events like our annual Brave Knight Benefit - a very special night that has brought in nearly $300,000 in just four years.
To keep administrative costs to a minimum, Courage for Cures relies entirely on volunteers so that contributions can fully support those trying to unlock the mysteries of these devastating brain tumors that fall short in attention and funding.
