BENEFITING: The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial
ORGANIZER: The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial
EVENT: Give Detroit Challenge
Michigan has a unique history to share when it comes to WWII. On top of the more than 600,000 residents who served in the armed forces, countless others served on the home front where Rosie the Riveter and the Arsenal of Democracy were born.
From the factories to the fields, Michigan supplied the war machine with everything from guns, tanks, bombers, planes and ships to livestock, crops and K-rations.
To celebrate Michigan’s remarkable role in the “war that changed the world” we’re proud to introduce The Michigan World War II Legacy Memorial.
The memorial provides a year- round multi-purpose destination that tells Michigan’s unique story and encourages visitors to both commemorate and celebrate their freedom.
It also serves as an inspiration for future generations, reminding us all of the remarkable patriotism, selfless sacrifices and extraordinary devotion to liberty that helped save the world.
