BENEFITING: INWOOD ACADEMY FOR LEADERSHIP CHARTER SCHOOL
ORGANIZER: INWOOD ACADEMY FOR LEADERSHIP CHARTER SCHOOL
EVENT DATE: Aug 09, 2015
Woodworking and Words. Yes, I teach 9th grade English and woodworking. My woodworking elective course this year has already grown into an afterschool class and now a summer camp. I work at a free public charter school and we do not charge our students for my woodworking afterschool or summer camp programs. That’s why I need your help.
For $20 a day, my young aspiring woodworking artists, carpenters, and entrepreneurs can attend my camp. Donate $100 and they can attend the entire week.
Please help me raise funds so our kids can attend my woodworking camp this summer.
Your donations will also help me buy supplies. I currently obtain supplies by gathering reclaimed lumber found on the streets of the surrounding community here in northern Manhattan, but could use more quality lumber.
Many of the woodworking tools for the camp are from my personal collection, but last month a very generous man donated tools worth thousands of dollars. His mother, who recently passed away, was a sculptor and when he heard about my program he decided to donate her personal woodworking tools rather than sell them.
It’s supporters like this man—thank you Jonathan—who did not know me or the kids we serve at Inwood Academy that make much of what we do here in northern Manhattan possible!
Join Jonathan. Give as much as you feel is meaningful to you.
With much gratitude,
