Give Lolo Rudy a new home
Organized by: Axle Pangilinan
EVENT DATE Jan 24, 2016
He's my grandfather.
I'm planning to sponsor the reconstruction of his house because it was razed by fire during new year's eve. But my money's honestly not enough, since I gave everything to my family already because we also lost our house. Nothing left. I hope this story touches your heart.
His name is Rodolfo Fortuno. People call him "Tsong Rudy". Of course I call him "lolo" (tagalog word for grandfather). My grandma died last year so he's now living alone in his simple small house in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. He is one of the most important men in my life. I grew up discussing singing and playing musical instruments with him (I play the guitar, he plays the keyboard), singing the songs he composes, talking about random stuff, discussing about dreams. So every weekend, instead of chit chatting with our neighbors (which is quite common in our place), I go straight to his house. Just simply bonding with him. He's someone I love so much. He loves his grandchildren so much. He temporarily lives in a tent with this grandchildren because he doesn't want to leave them.
Also, he is a living proof of the word "FOREVER". Ever since my grandmother died, he visits her in the cemetery every Sunday, consistently (even when he's very sick). That is a promise he made to her. That he will do that until he dies. True love, indeed.
He's a simple man. He doesn't need a big house. Doesn't need too much money. He's happy just being with his grandkids.
I kinda felt guilty when I saw his picture which was posted by a photographer in the Philippines. Because I was too worried about my family, that of course, I prioritized them and their house. I forgot about him. And all his sons and daughters also lost their houses. So, yes. He's kinda alone in a way right now.
Please help me build his small house. :)
