BENEFITING: Our Children's Trust
EVENT DATE: Dec 31, 2012
Dear Friends and Family,
It's the season of giving. Grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles. . . we all love to see the face of a child light up with the opening of a special gift. Giving brings joy and brings families together.
This winter, I'm asking you to give the gift of snow. I'm asking you because my 8-year old son recently asked me,
"Mom, when I grow up, do you think there will still be snow for me to ski on and play in?"
My honest answer was, "I'm going to work as hard as I can so that you will have a lot of snow." But I just finished writing in a legal brief that according to our state reports, if we don't reduce emissions, Oregon will have 50% of the snowpack we do today in less than 4 decades. And then today, I saw this headline in the New York Times:
Rising Temperatures Threaten Fundamental Change for Ski Slopes
Our Children's Trust is helping youth fight for snow, in courtrooms and before decision-makers around the country, by fighting climate change. They (our nation's youth), and we (at OCT), need your support. This winter, please give the gift of snow and donate to OCT.
Have a warm (hopefully not too warm) and bright winter season,
p.s. OCT will send you a DVD of the award-winning film series: Stories of TRUST: Calling for Climate Recovery, with a gift of $25 or more. They are compelling stories for young and old alike!
