THE STORY:

PASADENA PLAYHOUSE STATE THEATRE OF CALIFORNIA INC wrote -

Will you give the gift of theatre to 1 lucky kid?

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the light in young people’s eyes as they watch live professional theatre for the first time. In the spirit of the holiday season, please donate for as many tickets as you can to send as many children as possible to a life-changing magical performance at The Pasadena Playhouse. We can't do it without you!

It takes $50 to send one kid through our doors! Our goal is to raise $6,250 to send 125 kids to our theatre.

Your gift of ANY size matters!

But don't think you can't make an impact alone. If you and 4 friends donate $10 each, you've helped send 1 lucky kid to the theatre! Click on "Fundraise for this campaign" to track your own funds you raise!

FUN FACTS:

  • For each $50 you give, you send a child through our doors.
  • $1,500 reserves a whole row of kids.
  • Snow is cold. *burrr*
  • Gifts of ANY size matters.

With your generosity this Giving Tuesday, you will empower us to bring in more children and young adults who may have never before experienced the artistry of world-class American theatre…thereby empowering our next generation of actors, directors, set designers, playwrights, and theatre audiences.

This outreach is critical to the mission of The Pasadena Playhouse as we are determined to reach artistically underserved students from Title I schools, targeted community organizations, and alternative learning institutions. Every child should be afforded this theatrical opportunity.

Help make this happen! You may also donate by calling 626-204-7381 or sending a check payable to The Pasadena Playhouse at 600 Playhouse Alley, Suite 300, Pasadena, CA 91101.

I was just 10-years-old when I saw my first professional theatrical performance— right here at The Pasadena Playhouse!

I was swept away by the power of storytelling on stage. And I was astonished by the discovery that a live performance could have meaning in my life and actually teach me about my own personal challenges.

So, yes, my first visit to The Pasadena Playhouse was seminal. It was the day I became an avid theatre lover. I was forever hooked on theatre-going, a habit I have joyously indulged throughout the past four decades, and ultimately chose to be my career. My father gave me this incredible gift, and I’m asking you to do the same for a school-aged child who might otherwise never have the chance to see live theatre.

I strongly believe, as my father did, that introducing young people to the arts is vital to their growth and evolution, and that the arts contribute mightily to the quality of their lives.

- Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director of The Pasadena Playhouse
