Giving Back to My Parents

THE STORY:

My parents are such an inspiration to me. We have been under the poverty line for most of my life, but they have always made sure that my siblings and I have food, shelter, and love. My mom stays at home to homeschool my siblings; one of whom is autistic. She has been able to do what public school couldn't - she taught her how to read, write, and socialize. My sister is now performing way above grade level! My dad started his own web design business, and works from home so that he can spend time with his family. I admire my parents for always putting family first, even if it means that they won't make enough money to live comfortably. I am 20 years old, living on my own, and nearly finished with college. A few months ago, I needed my parent's tax information on my FAFSA so that I could apply for financial aid. In past years, my mom went into the account and filled out the information herself. This year, I filled it in for her over the phone. When we reached the parent income portion, I was shocked to find out that my parents had only made $14,000 in the past year. I have no idea how they are able to take care of three children and themselves on only $14,000 a year, without food stamps or other welfare. I am so proud of my parents for always making sure that our needs were provided for. But, I know the stress they have been under to make ends meet. I would love to give back to them, and give them some money to help ease their worries. It would mean the world to me if you could just give a few dollars. Thank you so much for your consideration. :)
