BENEFITING: Daraja Education Fund
EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
Happy Giving Tuesday!
Today marks the fifth anniversary of a fantastic tradition: a day of giving back to our communities and the world. This year, we’re aiming to raise $60,000 to educate Kenyan girls living in material poverty.
We’re excited to announce that today, the impact of your gift will be doubled: The John M. Simpson Foundation has agreed to match your gifts up to the first $10,000 raised!
What we've done so far:
To date, Daraja Academy has served 228 girls. Our academic program enabled 25 out of the 26 girls in our 2016 graduating class to qualify for higher education. After they graduate, Daraja girls earn 300 shillings per day on average, which is 100 shillings more than the national average! 100% of our students could not have attended secondary education without Daraja Academy.
Here are five reasons to give to Daraja Academy today:
1.) Because educating girls is the single most effective means of fighting global poverty.
2.) Because Daraja’s first class of girls is graduating college this year, but they wouldn’t have made it past 8th grade without this opportunity.
3.) Because the Daraja method is holistic and comprehensive, and helps girls maximize their potential.
4.) Because the Daraja girls aspire to be agents of change in their communities.
5.) Because we can only accept one out of every ten girls who applies, and denying girls the opportunity to access secondary school is a tragedy that is in our power to change.
We need you to be a Daraja girl’s bridge out of poverty. Daraja Academy would not exist without the support of donors like you.
Let a Daraja girl know you believe in her by donating today!
From all of us at Daraja Academy, thank you for supporting and believing in girls’ education!
