Imagine living off of $200 a week. Now imagine feeding six people on that income.
Giv+Luv is a little project with big aims. Right now, the goal is to help feed a family of 6 in Central Florida. The mother of 5 is married, but her husband will soon be deported by Immigration Services. She makes $200 a week working 11 hours a day at a gas station and is supporting 5 children.
Maria and her children are a really kind, happy family. They were all smiles during this photoshoot I put together in early May. She can't afford a camera, so she doesn't have any pictures of her kids. Crazy to think about, huh? And they don't know I'm doing this. They can't afford to pay for internet either, so I doubt they'll find out before I've finished.
At the end of this, I want them to be able to provide for themselves in the longterm. I'm teaching them to fish, so to speak. If you can spend $5 on Starbucks or on a beer without thinking about it (I do it too), try it here. If we work together, we can set them on their feet.
I'll be showing pictures of our progress along the way—so you won't be kept in the dark. Thanks for taking the time to read this; if you can't help right now, that's okay! Just share this page with someone who can.
