Organized by: Joely Pritzker

THE STORY:

After a sudden diagnosis and brief battle with a rare form of cancer, Glen Pritzker passed away on Tuesday, September 6. He was 69 years old. He passed peacefully with family by his side. He spent his final moments listening to Miles Davis and watching U.S. Open tennis.

He leaves behind a 46-year legacy as an educator, administrator, mentor, coach and classroom disc jockey. He impacted generations of students with his enthusiasm and devotion, both in and outside of the classroom.

A true renaissance man, Glen was as comfortable at an Old Globe production of Macbeth as he was cheering on the Padres at Petco Park. He had an expansive knowledge of music and a legendary record collection, which he took great pleasure in sharing with family, friends and students. Together with his wife, Sandy, he attended concerts on a weekly basis up until the month of his death.

He deeply loved his family, which includes his wife of 34 years, Sandy, his daughter, Joely, his son, George, his sister, Robin, and his son-in-law, Jacob. His family will always remember his boundless love and affection for his grandson, Solomon (aka Solly), who turns three months old on September 12.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to a memorial fund that will honor his spirit and legacy. The fund will carry on Mr. P.'s unconditional support of students in pursuit of their passions by establishing an annual award at La Jolla Country Day School. To make a contribution, please visit: https://www.crowdrise.com/glen-pritzker-memorial-fund

Further announcements will be made regarding a memorial service to celebrate his life and impact.

As a young developing teen tennis player Glen hit with me every week. He was know for his steady and consistent game, which I greatly valued as by playing with him I was forced to quell my "boom boom" end the point quickly nature. He was one of a handful of important mentors for me. I still play tennis today, AND am in education. I taught for many years, coached, and currently am an administrator. Mentors like Glen make a difference. I fondly remember him. RIP Glen. 11 months ago
