Glenn's long road to recovery!
Organized by: Glenn Legere Jr.
I have an extremely hard time asking for help no matter what the reason,so it took 3months and finally i am swallowing my pride and reaching out. I will start at the beginning and tell you about my accident and how drastically my life change in tge blink of an eye. Literally... Back in October the owner of the duplex i was renting with my girlfriend and her 7yr old son passed away. Long story short the family decided to sell and we were offered two grand to vacate by the end of the month giving us 20days to find a place in the area in order for the little guy to stay in the same school with his friends. Well we were not able to find a suitable place in time so were forced to put all of our belongings in a storage unit costing $160 a month. Well the last trip i made in the uhaul truck change all of our lives in a devastating way. After dropping my buddy off and heading back to the hotel the three of us were staying at i somehow veered of the road and slammed into a tree. I was in a coma for six days and woke up with absolutely no memory of the accident. I was wearing my seat belt, was not speeding and the air bags deployed as they were supposed to but the impact was enuff to rupture my intestine, fracture two vertebra,my pelvis and my left shoulder blade... I was flown to beth Israel in Boston and underwent emergency colostomy surgery as i was septic from the ruptured intestines. I opened my eyes six days later with a colostomy bag and no feeling from the waist down. The fractures to my spine caused severe nerve damage particularly to my rite leg and foot. As if now I'm in a nursing and rehab facility and participating in physical therapy to hopefully one day walk again. Thankfully the colostomy is reversible and i am going for that surgery next month. Because of my income taken out of the picture my girl friend and her son are homeless and staying with family members. I have applied for assistance but have yet to recieve any help. Just the parking in Boston alone had a major impact on what money we did have not to mention gas and just the regular living expenses. My girlfriend works as a cna with a private client but has limited hours due to her responsibility to her son. At this point we are not even getting by anymore... All our bills are behind, the car has been in the shop twice needing brakes and two tires. So there seems to be no light at the end of this tunnel for us. There is no way we can save money to get into an apartment of our own and it seems the expenses just keep piling up. I guess what i am hoping for is some people to see this and hopefully be able to lend a hand in order for us to atleast stay afloat until some kind of assistance is processed for my disability. We would be forever grateful and appreciative for contributions made.
