BENEFITING: CLEAN WATER MOVEMENT
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
Late notice, I know! The race is this Sunday, Nov 4! So act with spontaneous generosity!
I am running to raise money for Clean Water Movement, an organization that supports long-term, low-cost, low-tech and sustainable solutions to the global water crisis. From Bolivia, to Uganda, to Kosovo…the needs are global. (I hope to go on a trip to hand drill and construct water wells in one of these places some year, but this fundraiser is not for that eventuality.)
Please consider donating some minimum amount, say, $10.
Here's a suggestion that will add to my motivation to run well and fast: ADD to your base pledge some amount per minute I beat my previous record. For example, if you add $5 per min faster than my PR, and I beat my PR by 4 minutes, your donation comes to
$10 + (4 x $5) = $30.
How fast will I run, you ask? What's the potential investment here? Background: 2011 in the Rails To Trails Marathon was my 1st marathon ever; I ran 4:00:47. Weather was perfect. This year, with another year of triathlon and marathon training under my feet, I am running the same event. Looks like it will be 33 degrees and partly cloudy. If I can rest well before, hold my horses early in the race, and fuel properly, runnning 3:55:00 seems reasonable! But perhaps I'll go beyond reason!
Thank you for your help,
PS. Watch for updates after the race!
