Hello Friends & Family:
In late December, there will be an international Hmoob women's summit in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The purpose of this summit is to bring together Hmoob activists, organizers, and leaders from around the world to build solidarity across nation-states in order to end oppressive practices of gender-based violence.
As a Hmoob woman, the reality and success of the Summit is something that is very close and personal to my heart. My goal is to raise $1,000 to fund the Summit as well as to directly support Hmong women from Laos, Vietnam, and within Thailand to attend the Summit. Every dollar counts! Your donation is an investment to ending gender-based violence and domestic violence.

A network of community change agents across the United States and Southeast Asia launched Building Our Future (BOF) in 2013 as a movement platform to focus on community-first efforts across the globe towards ending gender-based violence and building safe, strong, and thriving families.
In March 2015 we convened 30 community advocates from Thailand, China, Laos, Vietnam and the US in Thailand to begin connecting our work globally. At this gathering we explored how we could build global solidarity in order to make deep cultural shifts. We considered what else might be needed to dramatically change the practices that negatively impact Hmong women and girls’ lives across the globe because we have witnessed how oppressive gender practices are exported from country to country, disproportionately having negative impacts of young people and women.
We found great value in our time together and now are organizing a Global Hmong Women's Summit that includes more countries and brings more people in order to grow a movement that builds international solidarity to transform harmful practices.
We ask for your support to make this first Global Hmong Women’s Summit possible. We aim to hold the Summit in Thailand in December 2016 if we can raise the funds needed.
We know that building strong and thriving communities free of gender-based violence takes all of us.
Thank you for your support!
