BENEFITING: GLOBAL LEARNING INITIATIVE
As a former teacher, I've witnessed students rummaging through school trashcans for food. I can't count how often kids would come to my office asking for something to eat. Two meals are provided during the school day, but what happens during the summer months? No child should ever go hungry! 22 million children receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year. Many students who rely on school meals often go hungry during the summer months. Please help us help others! Global Learning Initiative, Inc. is an Atlanta-based non-profit dedicated to providing resources to under-served communities. GLI is seeking assistance to help offset the cost of transporting food to feeding sites (bus/van rentals, fuel, storage coolers, etc.) during the course of the summer. These items are needed to reach students that would go without breakfast and lunch during the summer months. Summer feeding sites are located throughout metro Atlanta. However, many families do not have transportation to reach those sites. Therefore, it is imperative that outreach programs, such as ours, take food out to the communities that need it the most.
